The new neighbours – a short, short story

“It is the new neighbours!” said mother, happy that the previous ones had left.
“Do they have any children?” said father.
The previous tenants had two. The children played video games at maximum volume the whole day. We had complained, but nothing happened.
“No, their children are settled in the US and come to visit once in a year.”
Mother and father went out of their way to help them set up their belongings.
“Finally, I can sleep during the day,” said father who took his retirement seriously.
Everything went well until the next morning at six.
We heard a sound as if someone had stepped on a cats tail.
“We practice classical music for four hours every morning and evening,” said the new tenants.
“I miss the children,” said father.
“Yes, at least they stopped when the batteries ran out,” said mother.
